The small dining room was packed with Americans only. The two staff members were rather over worked. I ordered a bottle of wine that they returned 10 mintues later to tell me they were out of, I ordered a bottle of Sancerre that they had but I could see them going upstairs to get. Needless to say it wasn’t chilled at all and was disgustingly warm. Instead of informing this they served it to me anyway. As my starter was already on the table I relented but asked for them to chill it. Instead of getting an ice bucket the waiter took it to the vinotec behind the bar ( which does not chill wine quickly at all.) After a plate of the disgusting pickles I tucked into the foie gras which was good but half way through I had finished m glass of wine. My waiters were nowhere to be seen, which is a feat for the ridiculously small dining room. So I waited, and waited and waited. The server only returned when he had my Pot au Feu in hand. “Perhaps more wine#8221; I inquired while gesturing to my half eaten and rather room temperature foie gras. Exasperated, he fled with my main and returned with the marginally more chilled wine. Before he left I demanded he at least chill it in a ice bucket to which he begrudgingly agreed to. When the Pot au Feu returned it was clearly kept lukewarm in the back with the herbs sadly boiled to oblivion and the vegetables overcooked. The Tete de Veau was good though; crispy, fatty and well balanced with the sauce gribiche. Would have tried dessert but wasn’t interested in the possible service snafus that could arise (would my coffee come within 20 minutes!?). 175 Euros for me dining alone and frankly not worth the time.
