That said, as I noted, Chipotle is just better enough to make it a viable possibility for me in an airport food hall or similar. The most useful function of the Chipotle in France is likely to be to raise the profile of Mexican food locally enough so that someone will attempt a serious Mexican restaurant–Rick Bayless, we need you!–in Paris. French airline, railroad, terminal food is a horror. Why A culinary mystery. Chipotle in the United States is my favorite for a fast, cheap meal. Usually have grilled chicken or carnitas on a bed of lettuce with onions and corn and tomato salsa. Just a light smattering of black beans. I amp up the heat with the pepper sauce available at all tables. Quality, natural food provided by progressive managers. What's not to like. I am sure the Paris location will soon improve.

If I was working at a tourist office anywhere, I'd move heaven and earth to make sure that the food at my airport was seriously good. All of the tourist-office advertising on CNN doesn't close to being as successful as sending someone on their way with memories of a seriously good feed. Best, Alec
