I think it's a superb combination. And yes, the all'Amatriciana was bliss. Best, Alec

And I thought the oysters MUST be cooked, right But no, it was to simulate the experience of oystermen who took sausages out with them and ate BOTH together. Envy you the great all'Amatriciana in Rome. Even average all'Amatriciana is a treat in my book.

Hope you guys had a wonderful night. It was v.v. hard for me to be so reasonable, but when the alarm rang this morning at 5.30am, I knew I'd been smart. Paris seems so austere after the lushness of Rome, which you helped me understand so much more deeply with humor and graciousness. Really look forward to seeing you again. All best, Alec

I have to go to Sicily later in the year and would love it if our paths crossed there. I'd have loved to join the gang in Rome the other night, but had reached that moment when the only possible next thing after so much good food and company was a hot bath and an early bed-time (very rare for me). Let's stay in touch, all best, and again my thanks for all of the wonderful meals I had in Tuscany last spring thanks to the very generously posted restaurant guide to Tuscany on your swell website. All best, Alec

I love Arcangelo, and Piperno's is dear to my heart. And I'm very glad you managed to sneak in a panino at Tricolore amidst all your eating. Very much looking forward to reading your article!
