In reply to peter. Though the Japanese chef has moved on, there's still a terrific team in the kitchen at Fish, which remains a very charming restaurant.

I visited Paris last week and planned to eat at Fish but didn’t since the Japanese wonderchef wasn’t there any more. Walking by the restaurant it didn’t look as nice as described here above.

The food at Pierre au Palais Royal completely trumps the unfortunate decor. Or in other words, by all means go inspite of the unfortunate decor. Just make sure you get a table that's not blasted by the awful rocket-launch overhead lighting, and enjoy the really wonderful food and service. Best, Alec

Too bad the decor and lighting is so bad at Pierre au Palais Royal, the food sounds fabulous and right up my alley. We may have to go and overlook those negatives when we are back in Paris. Thanks for sharing.
